"I Do This for You and Mom" Today's LA Times (reg. req.) features this story on novelist Frank Schaeffer and his family. The last thing the Schaeffers expected was that their son would join the Marines. Since that happened, they've had to deal with anti-military snobbery from their peers and the educated elites, but they've also made human contact with a variety of working folk who have kids in the USMC. |
