A Sad Day in the Neighborhood

Fred Rogers passed away. The New York Times (registration required) obituary is here.
At a ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the show in 1993, Rogers said, "It's not the honors and not the titles and not the power that is of ultimate importance. It's what resides inside."
Though almost all of us only know him via television, I believe that this was a man who made genuine accomplishments in helping folks raise their kids.

A testamony to his sublime quietness was that I knew nothing of the fact that he had stomach cancer.

I think one take-away message is that individuals can do great things, even in this day and age, and even using television.
