A minor point regarding Sullivan's gay-related post from yesterday. It's "others and I have made", not "I and others". Yes, it's proscriptivist to think that way, but it's the right kind of rule to proscribe. Put others first, Mr. Sullivan, not yourself. When you split the last of the milk, do you take the larger fraction? Maybe Virginia Postel was too generous. |
